The exploration of remastering self-care is a captivating journey that Zoa leads listeners on, drawing parallels between the revitalization of music and the enhancement of personal wellness practices. Self-care, often regarded as a mere buzzword, is framed as an essential and dynamic component of a healthy lifestyle. The podcast articulates a clear methodology for remastering one’s self-care routines, which involves critical examination and rebalancing of individual lifestyle elements. This structured approach allows listeners to dissect their daily habits—ranging from nutrition and physical activity to hydration and stress management—enabling them to assess their effectiveness and make informed adjustments. Throughout the conversation, illuminating examples of individuals like Glenda and Aphrodite provide tangible insights into how these principles can be applied in real life. Glenda’s case, where dietary changes and detoxification led to improved energy and overall well-being, showcases a practical application of remastering self-care. It highlights how strategic changes can lay the groundwork for a more active and engaging lifestyle. Aphrodite’s journey, on the other hand, demonstrates the significant impact of combining movement, breathing techniques, and hydration to alleviate pain and stress. The stories shared serve not only to inspire but also to validate the notion that remastering self-care is a personalized endeavor, one that can lead to profound improvements in quality of life.

The fourth pillar of the Intentional Vitality Retreat is remaster your self care.
Speaker A:Self care.
Speaker A:I recorded several audios all about how important self care was to me and how I hope it is for you as well.
Speaker A:How self care should be part of your daily routine and flow.
Speaker A:How you should constantly reaffirm that your self care is working.
Speaker A:But how do you know that's where the concept of remastering comes in?
Speaker A:When music is remastered, it sounds so much better.
Speaker A:Remember your favorite 80s songs.
Speaker A:Whether it was the theme song from Flashdance or you Spin me Round like a record, the remastered version sounds fresh, clear, more complex and, well, just better than the original.
Speaker A:To remaster a song, the audio technician takes the finished song goes back to the individual single instrument or voice recordings.
Speaker A:Each recording is cleaned up and refined so it sounds better with the updated technology and equipment.
Speaker A:The high and low sounds throughout each recording are balanced for modern listening equipment.
Speaker A:The individual tracks are then balanced against each other so that when they are played all together in the final song, you hear each part as the artist originally intended.
Speaker A:Nothing was re recorded.
Speaker A:Nothing was tossed out that was essential for the musical experience.
Speaker A:All the pieces and parts are just updated so they work better together and sound great.
Speaker A:Isn't technology awesome?
Speaker A:So how do you remaster your self care?
Speaker A:You follow the same basic procedures.
Speaker A:You separate out all the pieces of your lifestyle for individual examination and assessment.
Speaker A:You analyze each component for its effectiveness, suitability, clarity and ease.
Speaker A:You adjust each component one at a time, test drive the changes, see what works, what doesn't.
Speaker A:Once each part of your lifestyle has been optimized on its own, it's time to put the pieces back together and balance them against each other.
Speaker A:Perhaps you discovered that a particular amount of protein every day in your diet made you feel great.
Speaker A:When you blend that and add it together with the fact that you want to add an additional strength workout every week, you might need to boost your protein a bit more to compensate for the exercise.
Speaker A:This is an example of balancing your wellness lifestyle has many components to it.
Speaker A:When I work with a functional wellness client, we address seven main areas of their diet, movement, hydration, breathing, digestion elimination, and nervous system regulation.
Speaker A:To remaster your lifestyle, we will be exploring each of these areas one at a time, making tiny forward steps before making any big steps and then we put them back together.
Speaker A:Let me give you some examples.
Speaker A:Glenda had a lot going on.
Speaker A:Fatigue, poor sleep, whole body, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and an overall feeling that something was wrong.
Speaker A:Her her inner compass had some strong opinions.
Speaker A:We discussed how she could be eating more home cooked food.
Speaker A:The problem was she didn't really have the energy to prepare the food better.
Speaker A:Sleep would help, but sleep is so complicated, there's no quick fix.
Speaker A:So where do we begin?
Speaker A:We started with a diet, but we added bioavailable supplements so that her body could receive what it needed without her needing to spend more time in the kitchen.
Speaker A:We added some detox activities that improved her sleep.
Speaker A:Because she slept better, she developed more energy that she could apply to chopping vegetables and making soups in her crock pot.
Speaker A:Her pain diminished with the detox work and she was able to take daily walks which gave her energy and further improved her sleep.
Speaker A:Today, Glenda enjoys her time making food in the kitchen, taking hikes with her family, sleeping and waking and ready to take on the day.
Speaker A:All because she remastered her self care.
Speaker A:Let me give you another example.
Speaker A:Aphrodite came to me with intense hip and low back pain.
Speaker A:I showed her that she did not have to experience pain if she relaxed her hip muscles and let me move her leg.
Speaker A:She only experienced pain when she tried to move her leg.
Speaker A:Instead of following her around and moving her leg for her all day, I showed her how to use her stabilizing muscles to support her leg movement.
Speaker A:And then she did not experience pain when she moved her leg either.
Speaker A:Her nervous system learned that movement did not always lead to pain.
Speaker A:We added in more movement, both strengthening and stretching.
Speaker A:We added in breathing.
Speaker A:Breathing helped her relax.
Speaker A:The tight places.
Speaker A:We layered in improved hydration for the cells and tissues in her body.
Speaker A:The fact that this made her pee less frequently was a plus.
Speaker A:We layered in improved mineral intake to support the emotional stress that she always felt when her phone rang.
Speaker A:And on the other end of the phone was a family member in need.
Speaker A:We added in moving meditations in the form of yoga, A double whammy for stress relief of both body and mind.
Speaker A:And today Aphrodite has a toolkit at her disposal anytime she feels a twinge in her hip or low back, or if she's getting more of those stressful phone calls than she can handle.
Speaker A:We all have a myriad of ways we can remaster our self care.
Speaker A:If this is a time in your life when you are ready and willing to do this work, I encourage you to join us at the next Intentional Vitality Retreat.
Speaker A:And you can get started with this work by scheduling a wellness consultation with me anytime you are ready.
